How Michael Faraday Became a Scientist

In the year 1812, Humphry Davy was seriously injured – and temporarily blinded – while experimenting with nitrogen trichloride (a byproduct of chemical reactions between ammonia–derivatives and chlorine). The experience prompted him to take on the young Michael Faraday (aged 20 at the time) as his assistant.
